Job Fair at PC ProSchools is a Success

Here’s a great email that one of our Career Advisors received from one of the employers that attended our job fair last week.
The energy was high as multiple employers and students communicated and discussed the industry, their organizations and the opportunities to work together. Our students are going on 2nd and 3rd interviews now as a result and we look forward to some great placements in the next week.

Good Evening Ladies,

I just wanted to thank you for allowing me to represent Best Buy Alpine at the job fair last week. I believe I spoke with both of you about getting onto a mailing list about your next opportunities for the placement of your students and graduates. Any information on upcoming events would be fantastic, as I was extremely impressed with all of the attendees. I have never received so many thank you letters or phone calls regarding just showing up to an event. I’m definitely interested in what your students have to offer, whether or not it’s necessarily pertaining to their degree. Let me know if you need anything from my end as well. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you,

Katie

PC Pro Student LOVES His New IT Career

Check out this GREAT email one of my Career Advisors received from a current student that has started his new IT job… I LOVE this kind of news!!!

Date: 4/26/2010

Subject: RE: Follow Up

Hello Erin,

All I have to say is “What have you gotten me into?” Ey-chiuahua! I actually have to work from 7-4pm and then I’m done. I don’t have to work weekends, I get paid more then my previous job, I don’t have to worry or stress about a parent calling to rip me a new one. The job is easy and straightforward, no major hassles and I get paid more, did I already mention that?!

In case you aren’t picking up on the sarcasm, which is harder in the written word, I love it. Work is great. I look forward to everyday and learning new things:).

Hope things are going well for you at PC Pro.

Newspaper Highlights PC ProSchools

Published by pcpro under Miscellaneous

The Journal featured PC ProSchools this week, check it out……….

It’s Time To Rethink Education

When thinking of education the belief people had previously was you must attend a 2 or 4 year school. In today’s market, career changers don’t have that kind of time. According to the U.S. Department of Education National Center of Education Statistics, a 4 year college is taking students an average of 6 years to complete with a 57% graduation rate. It only gets worse when looking at the 2 year community college or technical school which takes an average of 3 years for students to complete but the graduation rates are staggering with only 23% graduating! “While I am sure the students had good intentions when enrolling in these programs the odds of success was not so good”, says Vice President of Operations Wendy Mirenda. Rethinking education has meant a quick, focused career change for many in Wisconsin.

PC ProSchools, a nationally accredited Microsoft IT Academy offers a 6 month alternative to enter the IT industry. Whether you are starting over or just starting out PC ProSchools can help you get the required computer career skills.

“We offer a unique and effective alternative to the traditional 2 or 4 year programs and we have proof it works. “Employers rate the hands-on experience that students receive at PC ProSchools as equivalent to working 1-2 years in the IT industry” says CEO Jim Brent. Graduates land high-paying IT jobs such as Help Desk Analysts, Network Administrators and Support Technicians. With our blended learning program our students achieve industry recognized Microsoft and Help Desk certifications and only need to come to the campus once a week while learning the rest from home with live lectures. This allows our students more time to spend with their families and friends while gaining skills to be employable.

Students, graduates and employers can’t say enough about PC ProSchools. Graduate Jeremy Trapp said “I got a new job about a week after I graduated and I love what I do! I’m 20 years old and I’m making so much money! If it wasn’t for PC ProSchools I wouldn’t be where I’m at right now.” Another graduate, Walter Pyper expressed “The instructors were very helpful and if it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have gotten through this. I have a lot more confidence and a better outlook on my future. They are very friendly at PC ProSchools and they really do care about you.”

After hiring multiple PC ProSchools graduates, Bill Smitley, Vice President of Corporate Recruiting with Service Express shares “With little human contact and a large fee to use the job boards I have branched out my recruiting and started to find other ways to find those high-talent, qualified candidates my company requires. I have been working with PC ProSchools to help me find candidates for several of my locations and having many different talents. The candidates I get from PC ProSchools are highly qualified and motivated individuals. I have found my partnership with PC ProSchools to be a positive rewarding and professional experience. I look forward to working with them in the future to assist me in filling my many open positions.”

PC ProSchools Instructor Earns Top Praise

Published by pcpro under Miscellaneous

Jason Tyree

Jason Tyree is a graduate of PC ProSchools and has been an instructor for us for the past year. I know how amazing Jason is and it is great to also hear it from the students. When one of our instructors, Jim Cranston, unexpectedly passed away after complications from strep throat, Jason stepped in and took over his class. It is in times a great despair that true character comes through. While Jason mourned the loss of his instructor, colleague and friend, he didn’t let anyone down! The class that started with Jim and finished with Jason had a 92% graduation rate!

Hello Kate,
How are you today? I know it has been a few months since graduation; things have been extremely busy with preparing for the MCSA exams. However, I feel that I need to take some time to mention what an excellent job Jason Tyree did, when stepping up at a very difficult time for all of us. And keeping us on track and focused during the transition to the new instructor. In conclusion I feel compelled to add that it speaks quite highly of the program at PC Pro Schools to have someone of such caliber not only on their staff but, as a member of it’s alumni as well. In closing I would like to commend Jason on a job well done and say thank you.

Sincerely,
John D. Pollock Jr.

PC ProSchools Grad Gets Promotion

The Ryan Family

Tyler Ryan, recipient of a full tuition scholarship, was a successful graduate of our program. He and his wife, Crystal have a young son, Hunter. They were struggling to make ends meet financially. He accepted his first IT job at a Fortune 500 Company making $10/hr. We all knew this wasn’t his dream salary but the experience he would gain working for this amazing company was well worth it. After 2 months on the job he learned of another opportunity at a world-wide insurance company nearby. He interviewed and was offered the job for $15/hr ($31,200 annually). He was offered the job because the hiring manager felt he was “hungry” and by going back to school in an accelerated format, he proved he was a quick learner of technology. After six months at his new company, Tyler will qualify for a monetary increase to $50,000 annually! This is great news because recently they learned the stork will be dropping off baby #2 to the Ryan Home so this 3rd raise in 8 months time couldn’t be better timed!
Congratulations Tyler on your career, new child and overall…. new life!!! And just think, last year at this time, we were just another annoying advertisement on the radio to Tyler!!!
