PC ProSchools Students and Grads are excited to team with up IndependenceFirst for their second annual computer recycling drive for Earth Day. Charlotte Zarnoth, Volunteer Coordinator for IndependenceFirst is seeking individuals who’d be interested in volunteering to help the day of the drive.

Like in 2010, the drive will be advertised so people can bring their old/used computer components to the IndependenceFirst office.  The computers and monitors are tested to see if they work at all, those that do work will be saved for our computer recycling program and the rest will be sent to a recycler who will dispose of them properly.  Our students and graduates will be making these computer evaluations.

Here’s the information about the event:

Day:            Saturday, April 16th

Time:          8:30 – 3:00

Place:         IndependenceFirst

540 S. 1st Street

Milwaukee, WI 53204

Please contact Laura Polancich, lpolancich@pcpro.edu if you’d like to participate!

Another student starts his IT career before graduating! Chris is still an active student, but he finished his MCP and MCDST and was really on top of things with his communication with his Career Advisor, submitting his resume and career search.   So when his Career Advisor called a national tech company and they needed someone to start 4 days later, Chris moved his classes from day to night immediately and was hired based on his fabulous personality and skill set. He was hired for a Help Desk role.  Chris absolutely loves his job and several students from this track have become a lot more aggressive in their job search. It’s a good thing, but the IT industry needs them! FAST!
